Egg Points: 132.3 points

Toby about to drop our egg drop container!

Opening our container to find that our egg was intact!
The restriction our team found most constricting was time because it was hard for us as a team to find time to work on the project together.

The most effective part of our design was the material used to construct our container. We chose to use a dodge ball as our container which was made of sponge. We found that it made our container relatively light and that it helped to cushion the fall of the egg. The least effective design of our container was the size because of the relatively large size of our container there was a lot of sponge to the container making it heavier so we could not get as many egg points.

In order to adapt our container to make it able to fit two eggs we could easily remove more sponge from the inside of the container allowing enough room for two eggs.

Egg Drop Test Day

For our container we decided on a soft spongy dodge ball. We cut out the center of the dodge ball and this is the spot that the egg sits in.. Once the egg is inside the dodge ball we put the cut out piece of sponge back to make the container spherical again. We found that our container worked very well on testing day. When starting to test out our egg we dropped it in small heights and moved higher and higher up until we reached the desired height of 5 meters. Our egg never broke or cracked once. Therefore because our container worked every time we do not see a need to make any changes at all. If any changes are made they will be made in the physical appearance of the container to make it more appealing to the eye.Our container fits all of the criteria as well. When we weighed our container it came out to 149.6g and the egg came out to 61.9g. The total mass of the egg and the container together is 211.5g.
